Synopsis
The film is a hybrid of documentary and fiction freely inspired by Flannery O’Connor’s novel Wise Blood (1949). It follows the journey taken by a professional theater actor (Ronaldo Braga) playing a street preacher in the turbulent and cacophonic center of the city of São Paulo, where preachers (both those affiliated and unaffiliated with churches) gather daily. Ronaldo’s church is The Church Without Christ, whose doctrine states, “No truth behind all truths.” His interactions with the local people in Sé Square result in a microcosmic depiction of the city and its inhabitants.
